Is revenge the solution it promises to be?
SYNOPSIS:
Set within the interwoven worlds of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations and Oliver Twist, this gripping drama unravels the dark saga of Orlick—a man driven by vengeance and tangled family ties and whose half-aunt is the reclusive Miss Havisham, the ex-fiancé of a Mr Compeyson, who jilted her at the altar. He harbours a deep grudge towards her after he and his father were cast aside in favour of Pip, her protege.
Our protagonist is also haunted by a legacy of betrayal—his grandfather’s sinister drowning at the hand of his own father, and Mr. Compeyson’s, disembowelling of his pregnant mother causing the death of that scoundrel’s unborn child.
His thirst for murderous revenge manifests in a series of chilling acts, including the killing of Jo Gargary’s wife, Pip’s sister, and eventually Miss Havisham herself. Thereafter Orlick conspires with the sinister Noah Claypole, an arch enemy of Oliver Twist, whom he has disappointingly failed to destroy. The plan is to lure Pip back to his village, under the auspices of a Mr Brownlow, the guardian of Oliver and a kinsman of Miss Havisham. Pip once there will be called onto the marshes for a deadly ambush, where these two diverse worlds will eerily and violently collide.
With Pip’s loyal friend Herbert Pocket and others racing against time to save him and protect Miss Havisham’s ward, Estella, who is in the process of becoming the very same recluse as Miss Havisham in her old ruined house. At this point a tense battle of wits unfolds.
Will friendship and courage triumph over Orlick’s relentless wrath? This intense and suspenseful tale explores betrayal, loyalty, and the enduring quest for justice in a shadowy Victorian landscape.
